During this episode we will be taking a look back at the history of the unique way Bulrathians do Diplomacy. What do you think? Are the Bulrathi a race that believes in actions speak louder than words or do they have a soft side to them?

Just send over some freighters filled with honey. You'll have the Bulrathi eating out of your hands.

Well hopefully they will have an intelligent side to them too in the upcoming game. Meaning that when they have like one star system left they won`t be declaring war regularly to half the galaxy.

Moreover, I advise that the tactical combat must be made more player controllable and informative for this to become a proper MOO game.

The long lost formula for space 4X game success = Good tactical combat + good empire management > than just good tactical combat or good empire management alone.

Diplomacy with the Bulrathi. According to the current bio of them, they are fighters but have a softer spot for weaker empires. Based on this, some things that can be done diplomatically to cause a standing change with them.

Declaring War against another race who is at peace with everyone (Minor Faction loss)

Declaring War against a larger race than you (Major faction gain)

Declaring War against a smaller race than you (Major faction loss)

Declaring War against a race that is at war against a stronger opponent (Major faction loss)

Declaring War against a race that is at war against a weaker opponent (Major faction gain)

Declaring War against a race that is at war with the Bulrathi, and you are WEAKER than that race (HUGE faction gain)

Having war declared against you by a race (Non-Bulrathi or its allies) that is stronger than you (VERY minor faction gain; however, it occurs each turn that the war continues)

Being caught, or framed, for espionage against the Bulrathi (HUGE faction loss) or its allies (Major faction loss)

Giving any non-military tech to the Bulrathi (Minor faction gain)

Giving any military tech to the Bulrathi (Intermediate faction gain)

Giving a world to the Bulrathi (Minor to huge based on number of defensive installations on that world)

Giving cash to the Bulrathi (Very Minor to intermediate faction gain based on how much the Bulrathi have and what percentage of your treasury it was)

Being a larger (At least 10% higher score, and equal to or more planets) empire than the Bulrathi (Very Minor, to Minor faction loss every 10 to 20 turns or so assuming NO other faction gains in that time with the Bulrathi)

Being a smaller (At least 10% lower score and less colonized planets) empire than the Bulrathi (Minor to Intermediate faction gain every 10 to 20 turns or so assuming NO other faction losses in that time with the Bulrathi)

Destroying a race that you were at war with (No Faction change)

Allowing Peace to be declared against a race that is now smaller than you (Major faction gain)

Allowing Peace to be declared against a race that is bigger than you (Very minor faction loss)

Using WMDs (Biological, Chemical, or Stellar Converter Weapons) against a race (Very minor faction loss)

Using WMDs (Biological, Chemical, or Stellar Converter Weapons) against the Bulrathi (HUGE faction loss)

Conquering a Bulrathi planet via Ground Combat (Minor Faction GAIN)

Loosing a Planet to the Bulrathi via Ground Combat (Minor Faction LOSS)

Conquering Orion, Antarian Fleet, or its equivalent in this game (Minor to Major Faction Gain depending on the size of the destroyed fleet versus the size of the largest Bulrathi fleet)

Military victory in a war unrelated to the Bulrathi (Very Minor faction gain)

Basically the Bulrathi like people who stand up for themselves, and are willing to fight for themselves, but they do NOT like bullies. Like a true, honorable soldier, they will fight for what they believe in, but do NOT fight when it is NOT necessary. I see them as the standard soldier type from almost any of Robert Heinlein's books. Someone who is NOT afraid to fight, and is VERY good at fighting, but knows that peace can be more beneficial to all involved.

Totally agree with you here. This needs to be done for all the races!

This is how AoW3 did it, and would work amazingly in MoO4

You and your friends may have preferred certain features from MoO1 or MoO2 .. or perhaps even MoO3 but that does not mean everyone prefers it that way.

Perhaps you could think of some amazing alternative that could enhance the game in new areas, making it more enjoyable for everyone!

Please be creative and open minded when posting, we all want this to be the best game it can be.
