Greetings Explorers!

 

Here are the current known issues in Master of Orion:

 

  • [EULA] Localized EULA text is followed by unlocalized Privacy Policy in English
  • [GOG] Game will stop responding if a player creates a Multiplayer lobby, leaves and then quits the game.
  • [LINUX] Game application closes frequently on Linux.
  • [LINUX] Upon minimizing and maximizing back again, black graphical artifacts appear on colonies tags (labels).
  • [LINUX] Game interface becomes corrupted upon launching the game in windowed mode in certain configurations.
  • [LINUX] Resolution changes are not applied in windowed game mode.
  • [LINUX] The Cyrillic script symbols are not shown in game text fields.
  • [LINUX] Changing certain graphics setting closes the game.
  • [LINUX] [4K display issues] Game does not scale properly to desktop resolution when it is launched on 4K display.
  • [LINUX] Player is experiencing video lag and heavy CPU usage when running the game
  • [OSX] [LINUX] Korean version present severe visual issues (Japanese: fixed)
  • [OSX] Game may crash or deadlock after opening 'View tech tree' and scroll when a player uses native Mac mouse.
  • Game crashes during the splash screens when using a wireless Steel Series headset
  • Game crashes during the splash screens when using an Afterglow Universal Wireless Gaming Headset
  • Tutorial breaks at turn 4 after visiting Colony when Advisor asks Player to buyout the Frigate, if Player switches all 3 colonists to production instead of 1.
  • Core Systems Modules do not show up in the Defense Rating
  • Game client stops working after the opening movie
  • Under certain situations, the player can't scrap structures on planets
  • Commanding your fleet in Tactical battle will sometimes cause it to freeze
  • Player's game crashes after clicking on ships and/or submitting their turn
  • Non-aggression pact prevents user from attacking colonies, but not fleets
  • Game went out of sync in multiplayer game on 80 turn.
  • Tooltip about building civilian ship is not displayed in Russian
  • Star Base tooltip says that multiple Doom Stars can be built in Russian

 

Here are issues that have been recently reported by players and will continue to be updated as we receive more reports:

 

  • Graphical color saturation issue occurs during tactical battle
  • Path algorithm for ships don't always account wormholes to take the shortest path
  • Victory chances against the Amoeba space monster is misleading            
  • Plasma Rifle upgrade doesn't indicate how much of an increase it adds to Ground Marine combat rating
  • Spy notification message changes when you assign them to a different location
  • Combat sounds do not play when zooming in and out during Tactical Combat
  • GNN reports discovery of the same monster twice in a single play session
  • Orbital Defense structures don't appear to be repairing after combat
  • Troop Transport counter doesn't display the correct information
  • Commanding your fleet in Tactical battle will sometimes cause it to freeze
  • Players cannot scrap structures in the Colony Management menu
  • Planet graphic disappears when visiting the Empire Management menu
  • Scouts sometimes don't move during the turn phase
  • Notifications appear blank when constructing certain ships
  • Buyout option for building a structure/ship should be completed within the same turn
  • Colonize/Build option sometimes becomes unavailable when landing on a suitable location
  • Stellar Converter sound effects do not play after the first time you destroy a planet

2 more bugs that I repeatedly brought to your attention, yet still no fix for them.

 

1. Alternate ship design is not updated on the galaxy map or the ship blueprints.

2. Sound effects of the stellar converter cinematic only work the first time.

Rush builds need to complete at the end of your turn, not the beginning of the following turn. If your planet is attacked in between those turns, the item never gets built... ever.... and it's no longer available to build in your queue.

I'm following up on my previous report that sometimes you move a colony ship or space factory and the colonize/build option is greyed out.  I ran into it again, and I took a screenshot of it:

Unfortunately, when I reloaded the turn, the colony ship functioned normally.  That makes this bug very difficult to reproduce.  Deselecting and reselecting the ship also results in the button working normally.  

 

At the same time, I noticed something rather odd.  After I colonized the planet but before I queued anything in the production queue, the planet showed on the galaxy screen as having zero population:

After queuing something in the production queue, the population number properly showed as 1.  This appears to be the case with every new colony I colonize.

 

By the way, I noticed you disabled linking Steam screenshots, forcing me to upload these to Imgur.  Is there a particular reason for that?

Hello,

For me, the 49.3 version (GoG-25 version) is buggy and unplayable :

First combat > Manual > Game stay in the screen where you just click "Manual" > Nothing else to do than kill the task.

Tested 2 times.

I just re-installed previous version (48.4.1.1 - goG-24))  => No problem, i can play.

I have a late game where MOO locks up and then crashes under Linux when processing the turn.  Can I save and upload the game so you can look into the defect?

when leaving AI button checked on (top left corner) in tactical combat freezes are still happening. you can abandon battle though but it requires you to abandon the battle twice.

Fleet management has degraded since V48.  Multiple fleets are now combined into one fleet that won't move because a single ship has no moves left.  This might make sense for the rally point feature that never made it onto anyone's to do list.  An example scenario is a planet producing transports (one per turn because being able to specify how many to produce also lies on the cutting room floor), and sending them one at a time to their destination causes them to accumulate at the departure warp point.

 

 Two large fleets that meet on their way to through a common waypoint get combined and it's a total nightmare to disentangle them.

no fleet relocation button/option

 

WG do you know how annoying it is on a huge galaxy when you have 5+ colonies building troop transports each turn and you have to click around to them all each time, or frigates being built in 1 turn all over your empire. another nice feature of MoO 2 missing here

Tactical combat ship movement is quite broken.

since 49.3 came out I've been unable to play the game past the first combat I run into whether it's pirates, or if pirates disable the first ai fleet, as the game completely freezes in either auto-resolve or tactical combat. using windows 10. only mentioning this because known issues on steam mentions tactical combat not auto-resolve.

I have the same probleme in Win7,

There is a new version on GoG (GoG-26)

Probably it is a fix about this problem,

The alternate ship design issue is something they are currently looking into implementing. 

 

As for the sound effect for the stellar converter during the cinematic, this issue was supposedly fixed back in version 46.0. If you have a save file or a video recording of this issue occurring, could you please send me the file so I can reopen the issue for version 49.4?

I've submitted this issue to the development team for consideration.

 

As for structures/ships disappearing in the build queue, some structures (ex: Missile Base) cannot be built while your planet is being attacked. The option to build them will become available again once the threat has been eliminated.

As of now, the Linux version of the game client is only available on Steam. If it becomes available on the GoG distribution platform, we will let you know.

There is a new version on GoG (GoG-26)

Probably it is a fix about this problem,

Of course you can! If this is something that you can reproduce consistently, I will be glad to report this issue to the development team.

 

Looking into some similar reports, it seemed that they have addressed some instances of the same nature but if it is still happening, your information can definitely help fix this issue!

But honestly, it should be obvious to anyone who plays the game and uses tactical combat.

 

AI fleets drive straight from one side of the field to the other, even if you move your whole fleet to the side.  Enemy AI was far more intelligent before this patch.
