Master of Orion: Revenge of Antares DLC Announcement!

Quick thoughts:
The Elerians look as expected, even though their ships remind me of the alternate Mrrshan frigate. There is also a hint that mind control will be back? Unless that is not the dev view of them just like in the Mrrshan case.
The Gnolams are 6 eyed bulls now? Unless these are not the Gnolams.
The Trilarians follow the known path of being different in every new game. :P BTW, they're evil this time around? Interesting...
All I need to see now is the price of this DLC as well as a concrete response saying that ALL races will eventually follow their respective lore (Mrrshan, Sakkra, Darloks) come the new patch.

The races look cool, though the trailer makes the Gnolams and Trilarians out to be warmongers, which they aren't really. Sounds like they're bringing back telepathic. I hope the bring back lucky, fix up omniscient, and add an aquatic uber biome for the Trilarians. I wonder if they'll redesign the Alkari to give the Trilarians the increased travel speed?
As I mentioned on the steam forums, they're calling it "Revenge of Antares," but I didn't see any Antarans. Maybe that's a surprise addition? It would be disappointing if they didn't include Antarans in a patch that bears the name of their home world.

The Antarans is a race engineered by another ancient race? What?
Where is their pocked dimension?

Eh, not impressed. I thought I could comeback to the game with the Elerians but they aren't really looking that good. It's the same thing as with the humans, MoO 2 had not-Picard as the leader, which was cool and unique, Conquer the Stars had a standard human male in standard scifi admiral uniform as the leader. The Elerian had a female of black ethnity as a leader in MoO 2 and now? I don't want to say she is "white" washed but she looks like a fantasy sorceress and doesn't stand out anymore except for looking colorful.
If these are the Gnolams, they look like Goatpeople just why? And Trillians now are.. Cthuluoids?
I liked the ships though.
All in all, I am not really impressed and pretty dissappointed. I think I will stick with Stellaris and hope a Master of Orion 5 in the future will stay more true to the original.

agree, and i dont know what on earth WG/NGD is thinking coming up their own version of the antarans. endlessly dissapointed here. put 70 hours into stellaris in the last month and will be staying right there.
moo cts devs could learn a lot from stellaris

I'm pretty pleased with what I'm seeing so far! It'd be hard to get a real sense just from couple animated cut scenes and few battle cinematics, but the text announcement is encouraging.
The price point seems agreeable as well. I'm sure I'll still be playing this game in the new year, and look forward to continued updates and more mods with the new material.

While I'm looking forward to all the new stuffs... the new races strikes me as odd.
The Trilarians, how are they supposed to live on non-water planets? Maybe not a big difference from MoO2 though.
The Elerians, looks like others have mentioned, a bit too human? But we've only seen one so far, perhaps other characters will look more like a "space elf".
The Gnolams, since they live on a low gravity planet, my impression was that they would be small framed. Short and weak. While the new Gnolams are short, they like pretty beasty. That said, they do look the coolest out of the three new races.

My concern is, why is their leader wearing a full suit of armor? It's not like you ever need to wear armor during space battles, and the leader of the entire race is certainly not going to be involved in any ground combat.
The Gnolams look cool, I guess. Trilarians should get a penalty to beam attack because they only have one eye, so no depth perception :P

Elerians always had a backwards feudal government. It's likely this armor is meant to remind people that she's queen, and the axe to mean she's not going to take bullshit from any disgruntled baroness or lady who would like her place in the line of succession.
Mrrshan were also Feudal, but it would seem their queen got to where she is through a bit more political manouvering, not just force of arms from her noble house.
As for the Gnolams, they were a ha-ha "It's-a-jew!" negative stereotype that would have understandably offended people, I approve them getting rid of it.
What i don't like
HATE the elerian armor.
Elerian royal armor is ugly. Sorry, but it is. Remove the boob-shape (I know she has them, i don't need to actually see them for confirmation, thanks) and make it a functional armor, change the color pallete to something that actually looks good and i'll be happy.
If you want to show boobs, which is fine due to elerian original concept, i'd say let the advisor character be the logical choice, she'd probably not need to wear body armor. There's just something about boobed-body armor that irks me. I think the human advisors achieved being sort of sexy with just plain uniforms.
also, i must say, if the sexy-armor-syndrome is unavoidable, then the Moo2 armors looked way better. Sorry, but they did.
The Trilarians.
I'm ok with the Cthulu theme of course... but don't they look a bit too ugly ? I wish they were closer to original design in moo2
