can anyone tell me how to recover one of the base yaml files?  i had the shipmodules.yaml file up in an editor for reference and then i mistakenly edited the original file and saved it.  is there any way to recover the values for the base file?

Assuming you have the steam version of the game, go to your steam library and right click Master of Orion. Click properties, then go to the Local Files tab. Click Verify Integrity of Game Files and let the process finish. This will reset all of the game's files to their defaults. Note that this will also uninstall WhatIsSol's unofficial patch if you happen to be using that, so you'll need to reinstall that if you're using it. I think there's a similar thing on GoG galaxy, but I don't know exactly how to do it.

Get 5X - The Ultimate Balance Mod on Steam or on Nexus Mods!

thanks spud!

also i was thinking maybe i have been playing your mod too long because i don't recall that heavy armor and reinforced hull had a base cost of 0?

so in my yaml file for it this is what it is showing:

          - key: shipmodule_reinforced_hull
            name: $SHIP_MODULE_REINFORCED_HULL_NAME
            shortDescription: $SHIP_MODULE_REINFORCED_HULL_DESCRIPTION_SHORT
            description: $SHIP_MODULE_REINFORCED_HULL_DESCRIPTION
            slot: shipslot_special
            weaponType: weapontype_special_passive
            subType: shipmodulesubtype_defense
            hullPointsMultiplier: 0.5
            baseCost: 2
            costHullFactor: 2.5
            baseSize: 0
            sizeHullFactor: 0
            isPassive: true
            isUnique: true
            icon: assets/ship_modules/reinforced_hull.png
          - key: shipmodule_heavy_armor
            name: $SHIP_MODULE_HEAVY_ARMOR_NAME
            shortDescription: $SHIP_MODULE_HEAVY_ARMOR_DESCRIPTION_SHORT
            description: $SHIP_MODULE_HEAVY_ARMOR_DESCRIPTION
            slot: shipslot_special
            weaponType: weapontype_special_passive
            subType: shipmodulesubtype_defense
            baseCost: 8
            costHullFactor: 1.7
            baseSize: 0
            sizeHullFactor: 0
            resilienceMultiplier: 2
            isPassive: true
            isUnique: true
            icon: assets/ship_modules/heavy_armor.png
          - key: shipmodule_battle_pods
