The Alkari sure can design some beautiful ships, but why on Earth do they themselves have to be so ugly?

I mean the world is full of absolutely awesome looking birds, and this is the best you can do for the Alkari?

That is some level of inception you have going on  here.....a link to a post within a forum that links to another posts within another forum lol.

Alkari titans look great!  Alkari leader/diplomat/whatever this guy is . . . not feelin' it at all.  The original Alkari as an anthropomorphic eagle was always a thinly veiled joke.  Their home system, Altair, is the brightest star in the constellation Aquila (the Eagle) . . .  This guy looks more like a man in an angry chicken costume.

Second the messed-up looking "Birdman" thingie.

I want a moddable Master of Orion 1.5 with focus on interface and pacing.  Come discuss MoO 1.5 ideas HERE!

All the ships are really gorgous and the Doomstar does too great but it doesn't look like it's of the Alkari. The war ships are mostly bird looking, sleek, blade-like. The Doomstar is just a sphere, a cool looking sphere but it doesn't resemble any of the features before.

Why are you assuming that we would even get to choose from 8 colors?

Sorry, the colors are just for fun. I made them for each race just to see how stuff might look in game if there were color options. They are not official in any way.

@Varadhon

Because of lochphases pictures but even though it isn't official and just for fun, I think it isn't a bad question.^^

Yeah sorry about that, but for some reason that seemed to be the only way that I was able to link to that Alkari picture, as when I tried to link to it directly there was some sort of restriction preventing me from doing that. I guess you guys at Wargaming are trying to keep the interest up in every forum by posting a little different material to each one of them, but as we are able to visit all of them that seems a bit silly to me.

Wow! The alkari scientist/military/spy guy wasn't bad but this one just plain ugly! I like it that they made them birds again but the Alkari leader in MoO was a conceited, pride eagle like guy, while this one looks like a human in a bird costume.A shame that they got so great ships and are so dreadful looking themselve.

Agreed. If you would ask me to describe that Alkari to someone I would say it looks like a clown in a bird suit, and that isn`t good. :hiding: Perhaps if I wouldn`t have ever seen the Alkari from MOO 1 or 2 this might be semi-ok, but after seeing them this is truly disappointing. Whoever did the Alkari ships did a fantastic job, but the designer of the Alkari characters themselves sadly dropped the ball badly. :(

Moreover, I advise that the tactical combat must be made more player controllable and informative for this to become a proper MOO game.

The long lost formula for space 4X game success = Good tactical combat + good empire management > than just good tactical combat or good empire management alone.

Part of me is hoping that this is a bad still-capture and that the model looks better in animation.  The most offensive features to me are the "ears" (WHY ARE THEY EVEN THERE?) and the fact that the eyes are forward-facing and Uncanny Valley human-like.  I'm mostly fine with the rest of it.

Spherical. Whining about the spherical doomstar.

How about an egg-shaped doomstar then?!?

I don't really get the complaints about the spherical Alkari doomstars.  The only thing that seems mildly out of place to me is the greenish color emanating from the interior.  The overall color palette for their ships is geared around yellow, gold, and grey.  The green is sort of a curious departure.

I think green is appropriate, I.e.topical birds, canary's. etc,

Also, the doom "egg" would be a bit of humor and terror at the same time. {big ol' cannon at the pointy end, aimed at your planet.}
