Hey everyone!

I am a little behind on the concept art and I want to apologize for that! Here are the "Pizza Saucers" in their full glory!

Yeah, I am among the few who dont mind the saucer designs for Psilons, its fitting to them :) Maybe Psilons were visiting Earth in the past, and one frigate crash-landed near Roswell :D

Anyway, I want to ask, why there is only one battleship for them? Everyone else has two designs (or two we are aware of). Its puzzling me.

I don't have a problem with the saucer theme, but there isn't much variety or sense of increasing scale between the different classes. If you scaled the cruiser up and the titan down, you'd be hard-pressed to tell which is supposed to be the larger one.

Agreed. Currently the Psilons have to worst ships in the game as they lack any kind of variety between them. Using the saucer theme for design template is fine by me, but at the moment it looks like who ever designed these chose the easiest road there is and made them all look like similar saucers in different sizes.

Moreover, I advise that the tactical combat must be made more player controllable and informative for this to become a proper MOO game.

The long lost formula for space 4X game success = Good tactical combat + good empire management > than just good tactical combat or good empire management alone.

On the other hand, there isnt that much choices if you want to stick to the "grey alien saucer" theme, as these are generally simple. There is a struggle between having them recognizable as the saucers of Greys and with having more of them and each being unique. Thought, for the smaller designs, there is one design that wasnt used but is fitting. It is a saucer ship from a French comedy film Le Gendarme et les extra-terrestres, rough translation "Gendarme (policemen) and aliens/extraterrestrials". Here is the saucer. The one designs we can see with Psilons, and little assume, are more drawn based on the American imaginings of the flying saucers from the last century, the smaller ones at least.

Well they don`t all have to look like classic saucer ships. For example you could make the scout class (so probably the smallest one) look like a classic saucer ship and use some sort of round/saucer theme for the other ships too, but still make them look different with additional details, structures and such.

Well the alleged UFOs also include triangular and cigar-shaped craft.

Thats the problem of when you get too stuck to one thing. One way definitely is that Psilon small vessels are the classic saucers Humans seen as UFO, but the rest of Psilon ships, the bigger ones, are more varied. I think WG more opted to have them all go for the Grey UFO saucer" shape as general for all Psilon ships.

There is also a lot you can do in terms of density of detail to help make the scale more readable. They did this a little bit on the lower Titan, but most of the rest of the saucers, regardless of size, have roughly the same density of detail.

Do you think WG could shamelessly steal some of the layouts from the original Xcom?

They already got the saucer for the tiny.  Maybe turn one of the destroyers into bit of a symmetric cross shape.  A titan could have the 4 elevator look of the xcom battlehsip.

I want a moddable Master of Orion 1.5 with focus on interface and pacing.  Come discuss MoO 1.5 ideas HERE!

I agree, not enough variance in the ships for the Psilons, loved the titan and doomstar however am wondering why the second titan does not resemble doomstar as with other species designs, instead the second cruiser resembles the doomstar design.

Still loving the Psilons above all other races though and am hoping for big things :-)

Where is my Psilon ships lineup? Does it even exist?

I sense a disturbance in the force... :(

So these are the final designs... they fit more thematically to the Psilons. :) White, pure, and in case of the upper row also clean. The lower are more offense-oriented, which is also interesting :)

My only tiny nitpick would be... isnt there a larger version of the image? Like the rest of the others?
