Yep, same like Psilons are master scientists. No one can be above them in research :D

In moo2, i imagine that the Transdimensional Trilarian should be a smart race as well.

I was thinking that they should be able to ignore starlanes. :p

Both of these are valid options in my opinion. :)

One thing that I would consider important for good (standard) race design is that they each have a slightly different feel from each other. So that the players won`t just feel like they would be playing the same race all the time with just different in-game graphics/skins. So in this regard the game developers should be very careful with different races overlapping too much with each other.

Overall however I think that the balancing of the different races will require some significant play testing so that the different alien races will be nicely balanced and there won`t be like just a few completely superior races that everyone uses.

Moreover, I advise that the tactical combat must be made more player controllable and informative for this to become a proper MOO game.

The long lost formula for space 4X game success = Good tactical combat + good empire management > than just good tactical combat or good empire management alone.

Hey everyone! Stay tuned for the Ships reveals! In the meantime here is a little teaser for the very "sterile" Meklar.

Meklar

Meklar are machines seeking many ambitious goals such as the creation of a truly sentient life and the discovery of an endless energy source. The population of the Meklar are expansions of the ONE Meklar. Meklar are expansions of the same consciousness. Deep within the beings of the Meklar is an organic life, which may operate many Meklar hubs. These organic lives may have one served a greater purpose, but now they are mindless slaves to the hardware they once created to protect themselves. These organic husks are limited in number and not every Meklar houses one of these individuals.

STAY TUNED AS WE HAVE MORE TO COME!

Can't wait to see them! Hope that you will come up with more AWESOME designs!

As a particially Robotic race, one would think the Meklar would see efficiency in having multiple limbs and not be limited to a Humanoid body style with one head, 2 arms and a torso.

I would think they might be build more like a Mech with interchangeable limbs in the shoulder and rib area.

If they only face one direction and can't rotate their head around, then the limbs below the current limbs could be attached to the back and come around to hold hand weapons or operate a communications port R2D2 style, while the upper stronger arms do the lifting.

MOO1 Fan, MOO2 Fan, MOO3 needed too many changes = hopeless, MOO4 trending downward, getting older waiting for a MOO5 (a modern version of mostly MOO2).

Yep. Unfortunately as it seems currently the only place the Meklars seem to be using multiple limbs is in their legs, and even those seem to be rather unpractical as they are very small.

There is definitely an incredible number of variations depending on the task the Meklar is given to perform. my guess.

I wonder if we will ever get any real lore for Mekalr and Silicoids.
