I saw some questions about me--"who is this person using the WG logo?" "What's going on? Who is that GeneralDirection guy stealthily browsing the forums like a Darlok spy gathering intelligence?" So I figured I'd introduce myself.

 

I'm working with the incredibly talented team in the Americas on publishing efforts for Master of Orion. I don't officially have a title specific to MoO yet, but my title at Wargaming is "Integration Manager." For the past two years I've been responsible for developing Wargaming's brand awareness and presence in additional countries in the Americas--particularly Latin America. Now I'm excited to join the team to help develop our strategies for bringing the iconic 4X universe to a new generation of gamers, as well as faithful fans of the series that have played it passionately for the last 22 years. I'm also a huge fan of 4X personally, so I share in Victor's drive and passion to deliver an epic experience that is worthy of being called Master of Orion.

 

Most of my work will be behind-the-scenes, working with our social media, community, content, marketing and public relations teams to make sure we're keeping you informed on new things, and gathering your thoughts to share with the development team. You'll see me browsing the forum from time to time--we link to great threads constantly amongst the team--but the go-to person for questions and feedback is the very awesome ElPozoleOlmeca.

 

Tell us what you like, what you don't like, and what you'd most like to learn more about in Master of Orion. I encourage you to do it in the forum rather than private messages to kick-start discussions on the most important topics to you. While great ideas come from individuals, the best are only realized through group efforts.

Yes, if you could point the DEVs in the General Direction of the most hot topic on the forums to post a response, that would be great.

Hello, Mr. ElPozoleOlmeca !

1. I like TBS the way it's done in X-COM, Battle Isles 2 and HMM;

2. I like RTS the way it's done in Mech Commander,  WarHammer : Dark Omen (perhaps, it's done the same in Total War);

3. I DON'T like RTS the way it's done in MOO3, SD2. I don't like all the jumble one gets in most RTS games where battles have nothing in common with real battles of any kind.

 

Imo, It have to be a chess-tetris style (TBS) or some extremely finely manageable and fun RTS close to real thing (but I'm not sure if it suits the MOO Universe).

Hello from me too. :)

If I may add some ideas for the Tactical Battles:

1. TBS for Tactical Combat. An interesting twist would be to not have player turns but ship turns based on their respective initiative. This way an awesome battle could be compiled in a cinematic replay in the end!

2. Simplified RTS for Ground Combat like in "Star Wars Empire At War" and/or strictly MoO2 resolution for Autoresolve.

3. Different "Stellar Converter" super weapons archetypes, specific for each race would be nice.

 

General Ideas:

1. If there'll a Senate in the game, do not constrict its role to just "vote for the leader". Let them decide for Galactic Matters as well. 

2. Allow the option for each AI to change its leader (playstyle/personality) in game, to add some flavor. This could be either random (assassinated, replaced) or even elected.

3. Antarans in the future?

4. Allow for option for random number of players and/or custom opponents.

5. Binary Star Systems and/or Habitable moons of Gas Giants.

6. Each Fleet (unit) to be comprised by more than one ship. For example 1 Doom Star, 1-2 Titans, 3-5 Battleships, 8-10 Cruisers, 15-20 Destroyers, 30-40 Frigates per unit. This is the stuff for awesome space battles of epic proportions. :D

Just "save replay", "play" grab some popcorn...

 

Just some thoughts, be nice. :)

Vahouth, voted +1 for your post, just not sure what you mean with extended Galactic Council.

The Proposals and Bills system as it worked in MOO3 was just awesomely vague .. but perhaps you had something else in mind?

I had in mind the Council of Nations from Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. I just want the Galactic Council to do something more than voting for the game's ending every now and then.

Besides I'm not sure that Total War style will keep the style with Firearms (see https://en.wikipedia...nchester's_laws). I just didn't know how to name it in my last post.

Interesting link, thanks Zorg I'll have to check it out and get back to you on whether or not TW does the Lanchester Square.
