Since the traits of the races are not yet final, this poll is of course just about the coolness of the races.

If we're talking about coolness only, then the Meklar are the best.

I turn my head and now Silicoids are tied for first place. Clearly you are all doing this to spite me as you (collectively) cannot *possibly* like the Silicoids for real.

I really like the idea/theme of the Bulrathi. Spiritual protectors of nature. I also like the idea of them creating fleets of the largest ships with the most armor that they can. I like to play them as an empire that initially expands to a size they can defend with as many Huge planets as they can. I also try and convert asteroids and gas giants as fast as I can to planets and Terraform/Gaia everywhere I can only then when I've created an empire teaming with life(The Wilds) My fleet of Titans embark on their crusade to expand 'The Wilds' across the universe.

ALL PRAISE THE HAG!!!

You receive a 50% penalty in food and production if you don't have that trait.

My sentiments too, except my fleet doesn't have to be Titans to Protect the Wilds. ;)

Surely this is not even a question! The Culture of the Feudal Sakkran Race has gone untarnished (alright, only slightly tarnished) throughout time, and remains etched in stone and steel. (Literally. With our claws we never really got the hang of paper, and until we developed the Titanium Screen no one ever finished an e-mail on a portable device before driving a thumbnail through a cell-phone.)

So, yeah. Sakkrans all the way. "All You Need Is Rocks".

Darlok, straight up. Just look at those ship designs.

Please, dear friends. We will gladly share our secrets of sweet-ass aesthetics with you. Permit us to establish an embassy, and we will surely see fruitful cooperation between us.

OK, I couldn't find this anywhere on your terran interweb, so I've re-written it.

If any of you are refugees from the old MoO3 days you may remember a version of this from the glory days of the Apollyton forums.

<to the tune of Billy Joel's "She's always a Woman to Me">

It Looks Like a Human to Me.

You can have pointy ears,

You can make bigger eyes;

You can give them all scales or the limbs off of flies;

But since they’re bipedal, let’s speak honestly -

It’s got a weird name,

But it looks like a human to me

We’ll complain if it looks

Like a Doctor Who reject –

But if it’s too far from MoO 2

We’ll likely hit ‘eject’;

We want what we had, but changed just minutely;

And we’ll try not to mind that

It looks like a Human to me.

[Chorus:]
Moo… it’s an opera in space…

It’s got X’s in spades,

We just want it on time…

Moo… as long as it comes out

With its flavour intact

We’ll forgive any crime…

They’ve promised us all

Of the glory Orion

(Except the Trilarans,

Which left our chefs cryin’;)

We’ll juggle our ‘race picks’

Near infinitely…

And glibly ignore that

They all look like Humans to me.

[Chorus:]

Moo… we’ve been waiting so long

And we thought you long gone

We know games aren’t easy…

Moo… please forgive our complaints

If we don’t show restraint,

We’re still hurting from 3…

The Mrhsann are Cats,

And Bulrathi are Bears...

Elerians are Cheesecake -

(But nobody cares!)

The Klackons are Ants

Who think collectively...

The Darloks are strange,

‘cause their never the same,

But they all look like Humans to me...

Just met Yogsloth again after 13 years.

The poll results are actually close to what could be expected: The Alkari & Bulrathi were always the "normal", "average" races that were necessary to make the exotic races stand out. I am not surprised that the Psilons got the most votes. What is surprising is that the Mrrshan are so popular, maybe that is because of their cute empress ;)

I prefer Psilons though I wish they'd have used the MoO2 design
